Sun Products Associates Join Run to Fight Cancer

Associates from our Toronto office recently took part in the Harry Rosen 8K/5K Run to fight prostate cancer. Funds raised by the annual race benefit The Prostate Center Program at the Princess Margaret Foundation, Canada’s largest and busiest multidisciplinary prostate-focused clinic. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and second only to lung cancer in fatality rate.
Wilton Site Hosts NEON Center Holiday Party

Sun Products associates in Wilton brought holiday spirit to the Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now (NEON) Center again this holiday season, hosting a party for 60 needy children and their families. Associates donated gifts for all the children and Snuggle donated small Snuggle Bears for every child. Volunteers wrapped all the gifts and threw a festive holiday party filled with games, crafts, food and a visit from Santa! |

From food drives to help hurricane victims to care packages for our troops overseas, Sun Products is making a difference this holiday season. Across the Company, our associates worked together to supply food and comfort to those who need it the most. Since the beginning of November, over three tons of food and product were collected and donated, benefitting organizations including:

Sun Products’ Wisk, Snuggle and ‘all brands participated in the Wounded Warrior Project Believe in Heroes campaign to raise critical funds for soldiers in need. Partnering with sales and marketing agency Acosta, our brands – and associates – contributed to donations of over $5 million to the charity. Baltimore Kicks Off 2012 Mentoring Program

Sun Products’ Baltimore plant recently celebrated its 12th year of mentoring at Sandy Plains Elementary School with a big event to kick off the new school year including pumpkin decorating and an ice cream social. The mentoring program matches Sun Products associates with mentees for an hour each week of homework help, talking, game-playing and positive role modeling.
Salt Lake City Associates Shine at Corporate Games

More than 150 Salt Lake City associates participated in the city’s annual Summer Corporate Games, entering 25 teams in 19 different events including basketball, billiards, bowling, the 5K run, tennis, softball and more. Overall, Sun Products team won the coveted Spirit Award, a silver medal in billiards and a bronze medal in poker! Congratulations, SLC associates!
Sun Products Participates in St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway

Bowling Green associates recently volunteered at the St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway, which raises money for the Memphis-based hospital for pediatric cancer patients regardless of a family’s ability to pay. This year’s Dream Home, which will be raffled off on Sunday, September 16th, features a new washer, dryer and pedestals donated by Sun Products, along with a year’s worth of laundry and fabric conditioning products.
Charities Benefit from Connecticut Associates’ Volunteerism

In mid-May, associates, friends and family members worked together to volunteer for two great causes - the Connecticut Chapter of Make-A-Wish ‘Walk for Wishes’ and the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center ‘GreenSpring Country Fair.’ The Connecticut Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes catered to more than 1,000 walkers and raised more than $70K to help children with terminal illnesses and their families make their wishes come true! Wilton and Trumbull associates raised money through various fundraising activities and developed 26 themed gift baskets that the charity could use for the raffle during the walk.
At the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center’s GreenSpring Country Fair, Sun Products associates hosted a special table offering product samples, a stain-removal demonstration, the Stain Game, and Snuggle Bear to help raise money for the TNAC building campaign and scholarship fund. The Trumbull Nature & Arts Center is home to the Sun Products Full Circle Playground.
Bowling Green Site Sponsors 13th Annual Great Teddy Bear Run

Sun Products in Bowling Green recently sponsored the 13th Annual Great Teddy Bear Run, which raises money for the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center. This year approximately $30,000 was raised to prevent at-risk children from sexual abuse.
More than 1,000 bikers were in attendance for the 16 mile ride through the town of Bowling Green. To promote awareness, each motorcycle had a teddy bear attached to the front. Many Participating bikers also donated various types of stuffed animals, which are given to children getting medical exams and shared with social services and law enforcement for kids who are being removed from their homes.
Baltimore Plant Assists with Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Baltimore Plant partnered with the Maryland School for the Blind for their 9th annual Easter Egg Hunt in late March.
The plant’s Community Outreach Committee put together Easter Baskets and set up the Easter Egg Hunt for 50-60 children. Baskets of goodies and toys were distributed, and the “hunt” used eggs that made sounds, enabling the blind and sight-impaired kids to locate them and exchange for other gifts.
Snuggle Bear was on hand to give out furry hugs and was a big hit with the kids and their families!
